Maxine Waters slams President Trump on MSNBC

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) accused President Donald Trump of putting hers and the lives of others in danger by “dog-whistling to white supremacists” and the KKK and blamed Trump for a number of death threats she has received.

Her remarks: The congresswoman made the remarks during an appearance on MSNBC on Wednesday where she said:

“[Trump] should not be going after anybody,” Waters told host Ali Velshi, according to the Daily Wire. “He is the president of the United States of America. He is setting some of us up to be killed. I have death threats constantly.”

“There are a number of people who have been convicted for threatening to kill me, and when he does that he’s dog-whistling to the white supremacists, the KKK, and the dangerous people,” Waters said. “We have stories about many of those white supremacists who do nothing but practice how they’re going to be involved in a civil war and fight against this government. This president is irresponsible in so many ways aside from making us a target of these white supremacists.”

“He has called me names as he has called many others names,” Waters told Velshi. “I have been at this almost two years because I understand the danger of this president. I understand that he has colluded with Russia. I understand that he has embraced Putin. I also understand that he really wants to be and act like a dictator. I’m very worried about our entire government. I’m worried about his entire administration.”

Waters told reporters in June last year that people should start harassing Trump supporters wherever they see them in response to the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up,” Waters was recorded shouting at her supporters in June 2018. “And if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

During her MSNBC appearance, Waters maintained that Trump should be “imprisoned” and “placed in solitary confinement.”

“Most people know me and know what I’ve been doing for the last two years,” Waters said. “They know I’ve spoken about the president’s lack of understanding or appreciation for the Constitution. He doesn’t care about the democracy and how he has undermined all of those who are trying so hard to make this democracy stronger.”

“So, I think people know me,” Waters added. “And I think that they know I have the best interest of this country at heart and that I’ve worked very hard and that I’ve spoken truth to power in ways that many others didn’t even have the courage to do it.”
